If even after a long 8 hour long sleep, you feel drowsy in the morning then definitely something is missing in your sleep and morning routine.

Want to start your day with confidence (of course who won’t?). So let’s plan our sleep and morning routine effectively to improve our overall quality of life to increase our productivity in work.

When Dalai Lama was asked “How are you able to fit in daily meditation with such a busy schedule?” he smiled and replied that on normal days he meditates for an hour in the morning. He then smiled even bigger and said that on extremely busy days, he meditates for two hours in the morning.

A few Morning Routine tips for you…

1.Get enough sound sleep

The best steps towards a healthy and refreshing morning routine begin the night before.

Early to bed & Early to rise is essential to start your day off on the right track. Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day will set your biological clock according to your sleep needs. This helps your body to develop a rhythm with time. Once you get into rhythm, you’ll be able to guess exactly how many hours of sleep you need a night. The average adult needs between seven and nine hours of sleep a night.

Alarm snooze button is the most disturbing factor for your morning routine coz it becomes a habit to hit the snooze button again and again and your body doesn’t know whether it should be tired or awake. You will not require any time alarms for waking up once your sleep schedule is set. Fatigue, drowsiness and exhaustion are common midday symptoms of spoiled morning wake-up routines.

This sleep schedule must be maintained on the weekends too so your body remain in sync with sleep schedule and it has not to be overtasked with adjusting on next working day. Our body’s internal clock picks up on even small changes – and these can lead to fatigue and stress. Healthy sleep habits are thus an essential part of a healthy morning routine.

2.No Go to Social Media

Be with yourself at least for some time in the morning, away from your phone and laptop.

Meditate (live in Present), do some Yoga/ pranayama (breathing exercise), read newspaper, chat with your family, walk in nature and hear nature’s sounds to be in sync with this beautiful world. Messenger, Facebook and Instagram are merely distractions. So make a habit to put your laptop & phone in another room in off mode before going to sleep and if not an emergency, switch on these only after stepping out for your work. Simply staying offline in the morning is a great way to use your time wisely and an essential part of a healthy morning ritual.

3.Drink some herbal formulation and plenty of Water

After six to eight hours of sleep, the body becomes dehydrated and needs new fluids. According to Ayurveda 1 litre of lukewarm/fresh water on empty stomach can do wonders for our digestive system. The first thing in the morning must be a capful of herbal extract and at least a full big glass of water to discrete toxins from body. It will replenish your fluids and energize you up in the morning.
